F1 Legends: Dan Gurney

This week we start off our F1 Legends series with the one and only Dan Gurney.

Dan had an incredible career in motorsports as a driver, team owner and executive. Among Americans in F1 he’s second only to Mario Andretti, but Gurney was a prolific driver winning in many other series including Le Mans, IndyCar and NASCAR.

Outside of the car Gurney was an innovator, and is still the only American to put a car he helped design and build into the F1 Winners Circle. His other creations include the Gurney Flap, the Gurney Bubble and he was also the first driver to spray champagne after winning at Le Mans in 1967.
